Nose Correction Surgery, also called Rhinoplasty is a procedure to improve the nose aesthetically in order to create harmony with other facial features. Your nose is a dominant feature on your face and plays an important role in determining your overall appearance.
Some women are unhappy with their nose, either because of its size or shape. Rhinoplasty reshapes the skin as well as the bone and cartilage inside to change the size and shape of the nose.
Additionally, many women combine the Nose Correction Surgery with Chin Enhancement and Cheek Implants to create a balance of facial features.
Nose Correction Surgery is usually performed on an outpatient basis under local anaesthesia with with oral or I.V. sedation, or in some cases, under general anaesthetic. It takes 1-3 hours to complete.
In Nose Correction Surgery, most of the incisions are made inside the nose, where they are invisible. In some cases, an incision is made in the area of skin separating the nostrils.
Mr Ferrando will discuss all aspects of the Nose Correction procedure suitable to you at your consultations.
At the consultations, Mr Ferrando will take your medical history, thoroughly assess you, find out about your expectations of the surgery and will explain each stage of Nose Correction Surgery to you. He will carefully discuss all options suitable to you and answer any questions you may have. Mr Ferrando will recommend the individual Rhinoplasty technique, or combination of rhinoplasty techniques, which suit you best. The exact procedure depends on the anatomy of the patient. Clear communication about your aesthetic goals is vital at this stage.
Mr Ferrando will also explain the risks of smoking, the contraceptive pill and other medications to you, as they can interfere with the procedure as well as the healing process.
Mr Ferrando strongly believes that “good communication and feedback” between himself and his patients assures a maximum satisfactory outcome of Cosmetic Surgery.
Nose Correction Surgery can be performed in with different ways depending on the individual case. Sometimes a combination of varied approaches will be applied. There are two main types of Rhinoplasty, the internal and external Nose Correction techniques.
The Internal Procedure performs all incisions inside the nasal cavity. A procedure that leaves no scars. This type of nose surgery offers only a limited range of possibilities to change the nose tip.
The External Procedure involves a skin incision across the base of the nasal columella. It exposes the bone and cartilage more fully and is most often used for complicated procedures. Mr Ferrando may separate the skin from the bone and cartilage. The nose is then reshaped by removing bone, cartilage, or skin into the desired form.
After surgery, Mr Ferrando will apply a splint to help the nose bones maintain their new shape. You nose may be stuffed with a dressing, to help stabilize the septum.

The swelling should start to go down 2-3 days after surgery, but may last for up to two weeks. The nasal splint and stitches will be removed after a week. You should take a few days of work to rest. Patients are recommended to avoid any strenuous exercise or activities for at least 3-4 weeks after surgery.
Follow up appointments will be made for you after surgery, but if you have any unusual symptoms between visits, or any questions about what you can and can’t do , please contact Mr Ferrando and he will gladly talk to you. The well being of his patients is of utmost importance to him.
