Endoscopic Facelift Surgery involves a small fiberoptic camera that is inserted into a 1 inch incision in the temporal scalp area. This allows visualization of the structures inside of the face without making large incisions. The operation is performed watching a monitor, rather than directly at the wound. There are also smaller incisions placed just behind the hairline of the forehead for inserting instruments.
The Endoscopic Facelift is ideal for younger patients between 30-50 with a minimal to moderate amount of excess skin. This procedure eliminates the need for the traditional ear to ear incisions used in conventional facelift surgery and scars are barely visible. A great advantage for me with very short haircuts or with less hair.
The appearance of Wrinkled Foreheads, Drooping Eyelids, Sagging Cheeks and Jowls as well as Deep Nasal Furrows can all be greatly improved through the Endoscopic Facelift approach.
An Endoscopic Facelift can be performed independently or in conjunction with different types of facial surgery where it can assist in reaching facial areas which are more difficult to target.
Endoscopic Facelift Surgery is usually performed on an outpatient basis under local anaesthetic combined with oral or I.V.sedation. It takes 2-3 hours to complete depending on the exact procedure required.
Mr Ferrando will discuss all aspects of the Endoscopic Facelift suitable to you at your consultation.
At the consultations, Mr Ferrando will take your medical history, thoroughly assess you, find out about your expectations of the surgery and will explain each stage of the Endoscopic Facelift procedure to you. He will carefully discuss all options suitable to you and answer any questions you may have. The exact procedure depends on the facial anatomy of the patient. Clear communication about your aesthetic goals is vital at this stage.
Mr Ferrando will also explain the risks of smoking and certain medications to you, as they can interfere with the procedure as well as the healing process.
Mr Ferrando strongly believes that “good communication and feedback” between himself and his patients assures a maximum satisfactory outcome of Cosmetic Surgery.
The Endoscopic Facelift Procedure involves being able to look inside the face, under the skin with very small instruments.
Mr Ferrando will only make a few small incisions in appropriate and inconspicuous areas such as hairline, behind the ears on the sides of the nose, or under the jaw line. He will insert a microscopic instrument that has a little camera attached to the end. This camera sends images to a video monitor which Mr Ferrando uses to perform the necessary reshaping and tightening, all without having to lift up the skin.
Fatty tissue will be removed, muscles reshaped, and skin tissue repositioned. He can even insert cheek implants if desired during the Endoscopic Facelift procedure. Incisions will be carefully sutured to assure very little, almost invisible, scaring.
After Surgery – Recovery
It is very important to keep your head in a more elevated position when you sleep as it will aid the recovery process. Some type of stitches are dissolvable and will disappear over time, whereas others will need to be removed 5 to 7 days after surgery. You can expect a little swelling and bruising and your facial movements might feel slightly stiff for one to two weeks. Covering up these areas in the face with make up is absolutley fine.
You should feel fine 1-2 days after surgery. Some patients return to work after 2 days. Any strenuous exercise or activities should be avoided for at least 2 weeks after surgery.
Follow up appointments will be made for you after surgery, but if you have any questions, or you should feel unsure about anything, please contact Mr Ferrando and he will gladly talk to you. The well being of his patients is of utmost importance to him.
Although, basic information about an Endoscopic Facelift is provided on this website, the best way to get answers to specific questions about your individual needs is to schedule a personal consultation with Mr Ferrando.
After the surgery, you might feel a little sore but there isn’t usually a significant discomfort associated with the Endoscopic Facelift procedure.; Mr Ferrando will prescribe you pain relief medication, just in case you should experience any pain.
