Cheek Enhancement Surgery, also known as Cheek Augmentation is a surgical procedure to enhance the structure contour of the face.

Specially designed implants are placed over the cheekbones, resulting in a fuller, more sculpted face.

Cheek Augmentation may be combined with other procedures that improve your facial structure such as Face Lift, Nose Correction, Chin Enlargement and Liposuction.

Cheek Enlargement can also be achieved by Fat Transfer of the patient’s own fat taken from another part of the body.

Cheek Enhancement Surgery is usually performed on an outpatient basis under local anaesthetic combined with oral or I.V.sedation. It takes 1-2 hours to complete depending on the exact procedure required.

Mr Ferrando will discuss all aspects of Cheek Enhancement procedure suitable to you at your consultation.

Types of Cheek Implants

There are two main Types of Implants used for Cheek Augmentation, silicon or porex. Cheek implants made of silicon are solid and do not leak. Porex implants are porous, but solid to the human touch. Porex Implants are fixed to the cheekbone.

Implants come in various sizes and shapes which help to achieve different results.

Alternatively, Cheek Augmentation is also possible through Fat Transfer. This technique uses the patient’s own body tissue.

The Consultation

At the consultation Mr. Ferrando will take your medical history. He will thoroughly assess you, find out about your expectations of the surgery, and explain each stage of your Cheek Enhancement Surgery to you. He will consider your facial dimensions and natural face shape for the type of implants most suitable to you.

Mr Ferrando will also explain the risks of smoking, and medications to you, as they can interfere with the procedure as well as the healing process.

Mr Ferrando strongly believes that “good communication and feedback” between himself and his patients greatly assures the maximum satisfactory outcome to all Cosmetic Surgery procedures.

The Procedure

An incision will be made either inside your upper lip or your lower eyelid. A pocket is then formed and an implant is inserted. The implant can be either sutured or screwed into the bone. The incisions are closed with dissolving sutures.

Sometimes cheek implant surgery is done at the same time as another facial procedure, in which case the implants may be inserted through incisions made for those procedures.

After surgery, a dressing will be applied, to keep swelling and bruising to a minimum.

After Surgery – Recovery

You may feel tired and tender for the first few days after surgery with swelling and bruising in the facial area. This is only temporary. Mr Ferrando will prescribe you pain relief medication to ease your discomfort.

Patients are recommended to have at least 2-3 days off work to allow time to rest and recover comfortably at home. You shouldn’t do anything too strenuous for about three weeks.

Follow up appointments will be made for you after surgery, but if you have any unusual symptoms between visits, or any questions about what you can and can’t do, please contact Mr Ferrando and he will gladly talk to you. The well being of his patients is of utmost importance to him.

Risks and Side Effects
All surgeries carry certain risks and even though they are rare you should be aware of them before making your decision. Mr Ferrando will talk you through any possible risks and side effects at his consultations as they will vary depending on the patient’s body shape, age, condition and lifestyle.
